Harlan often gets asked about how to get from
Melbourne Airport to Phillip Island by bus for major events
such as the MotoGP and the V8 Supercars. It is possible to travel
to Phillip Island using SkyBus and V/Line but this is a little
complex and messy.
Harlan proposes to provide a direct service from the airport
to Phillip Island and return for such events. The next event
is the MotoGP scheduled for 12th to 14th October and then the
V8 Supercars Finale, 30th November to 2nd December. There is
also the Pyramid Rock Festival, 29th December to 1st January.
If you are interested in making use of such a service please

Subject: Friends of the Choir Update #35
Dear All
The choir arrive back in their capital city of Dar es Salaam
late last night, all well, carrying a few extra kilos in their suitcases, as
well as in their bodies.
The last day in Melbourne saw the children visit a cinema,
the first time for most of them. I took them to IMAX to watch Wild Safari in 3D.
They all thoroughly enjoyed it although a couple suffered from motion
sickness.
Tomorrow (Sunday) sees them return to their village and their
families after an amazing 3 weeks of discovery, learning and of course music.
They will have hours and hours of stories to relate to those in their village
who know little about travel and the developed world.
As they blend back into their familiar surroundings and return
to a world without power, running water, 3 guarenteed meals per day and
the luxuries many of us take for granted, they will watch a secondary school being
built in their village. That school is their key to a brighter future, not
just for the choir members but for their brothers, sisters, friends and their own
children in years to come, their key to break out of the poverty cycle.
To each of you on this mailing list, in the now many different
countries you all reside, there will be a brick in the secondary school for each
of you.
I hope all of you have enjoyed following the choir's journey
to Australia and feel a deep sense of satisfaction that it has culminated in
something very worthwhile.
God willing, Update #36 will be full of equally good news about
what may lay ahead for the choir.
On behalf of 42 children and their grateful relatives and neighbours,
thank you all for your generousity.
Kind regards as always
Grant
- Note: Harlan
Coach Tours , a member of the
Harlan Group that also manages Melbourne Lodge (home for the
choir during their stay in Melbourne), provided a coach to transport
the children to and from the IMAX theatre free of charge.

Subject: Friends of the Choir Update #34
Dear All
Since the last update the choir have done 3 performances in
Melbourne at the Festival 2006 for the Commonwealth Games. The
performances were very well attended and hugely popular, 2 of
the 3 ending in the now, somewhat familiar, standing ovation.
The first performance was just after Samson won the gold medal
for Tanzania in the Men's Marathon, so it was a special event.
The children have been extremely well looked after by the Melbourne
2006 organisers and Melbourne Lodge where they
are staying. The Tanzanian community put on a Tanzanian meal
for them on Saturday night which was just perfect, all plates
scraped clean.
The press coverage the choir has received in Australia has
been unbelievable,
certainly the best covered of all the performers. Whilst I dont
have the
facities to reproduce the articles here for you, some of the
headlines in the
major papers have been: Little Choir Sings About Big Issues,
Golden Voices Sing
Songs of Joy, Free Event You Just Can't Afford to Miss, Lunchtime
Musical
Safari, Choir To Make Hearts Soar, Singing Secures School, Golden
Voices From
The Village Heart of Africa, African Joy On Stage and Ticket
To Pride.
Today is their choir's last performance in Australia before
heading home
tomorrow evening. They will be having their photo taken on the
steps of
Flinders St Station, a Melbourne landmark, after the performance.
Standing
along side them will be Samson, proudly holding his Commonwealth
Games Gold
Medal.
Enjoy the remainder of the week.
Kind regards
Grant
Today is the choir's final performance in Australia
